Everyone knows the items you can and can't bring onboard international flights. Toy guns, knives and big bottles of shampoo are all obvious no-nos. But there are some items that are prohibited from being brought onboard planes that you might never have considered.

Jars and buckets of slime might be a big hit with your kids, but check the volume before you head to the airport. It's technically a gel, so you'll only be able to carry a maximum of 100g of slime in your carry-on. Pack it in your checked luggage to be safe.

 In fact, a UK airport had to issue a warning to parents that slime would be confiscated it it was over 100g. A mid-flight snack of brie and crackers might sound tempting, but technically soft cheeses count as a gel. This means to bring it onboard, it needs to be a sealed wheel or wedge weighing less than 100g.

 You may have promised your overseas relatives that you'd bring them a jar of Australia's favourite spread, but unfortunately, it's counted as a liquid.
