MURRAY – For the fourth year in a row, students in the Murray-Calloway County Area Technology Center’s culinary arts class will be bringing fine dining to local foodies. The annual ATC Pop-up Bistro will be held at the ATC on Robertson Road from 5-8 p.m.

Friday and Saturday, March 28-29. Tickets for the five-course meal may be purchased from any culinary arts student or by calling 270-753-1870. The theme this year is “A Taste of Summer,” and the courses are titled “ Setting Sail,” “Salad Oasis,” “The Big Kahuna,” “Taste Bud Revival” And “Summertime Sugar Rush.

” The class’s instructor, Chef Kathleen Holman, has been teaching culinary arts at the ATC for about 15 years now, and she said the growth she has seen in her students since the bistro fundraiser started in 2022 has been extraordinary. “The first year, I was completely scared and nervous,” Holman said. “That was a huge experiment, and I really had no idea which way it was going to go, to tell you truth.

It was pretty successful, and they all worked their butts off, so people in the community and my boss (ATC Principal Dan Hicks) said, ‘You gotta do this every year.’ This is my second year with most of the ‘employees’ (students), so I'm just here to order stuff now. They've got it (under control), no problem.

“The amount of dedication, hard work, hours, communication and meetings (they’ve put in is remarkable). I mean, these are high school students, and they're rocking out..
