Friday, March 14, 2025 Effective 13th March 2025, Air Astana is implementing stricter regulations regarding the transport of lithium batteries and battery-powered devices to further enhance flight safety. This change comes as part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to address safety concerns associated with the transport of such devices on its flights. The revised policy mandates that spare batteries, including power banks and electronic smoking devices, are only permitted in carry-on baggage.

If passengers need to check in their carry-on baggage, they must remove all spare batteries beforehand. This regulation is designed to reduce the risk of fire hazards and ensure that such items are easily accessible in case of an emergency. Under the updated rules, the maximum allowable battery capacity for lithium batteries is set at 100Wh.



Batteries with a capacity between 100Wh and 160Wh may only be transported with prior airline approval, and passengers are limited to carrying two batteries per person. The transportation of batteries exceeding 160Wh is strictly prohibited. Additionally, all batteries must be properly marked with their capacity, and the transportation of batteries without capacity markings or the necessary certification is not allowed.

For flight safety reasons, lithium batteries, external batteries, and electronic smoking devices must remain in the passenger’s hand luggage and be placed on the luggage racks in the cabin. The use of these batteries to charge other .
