LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday welcomed a high-level 25-member delegation of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), hailing from eight member countries, and expressed her commitment to positioning Lahore as a vibrant hub of culture, tourism, and economic opportunity. The delegation, led by ECO Secretary General Asad Majeed Khan, included permanent representatives from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan. Upon arrival at the CM Office, the delegation received a warm reception, reflecting the traditional hospitality of the provincial capital.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb delivered a comprehensive briefing to the visiting delegates, highlighting Punjab’s initiatives in tourism, heritage conservation, and investment opportunities. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz thanked Turkmenistan for its support in declaring Lahore as the ECO capital, calling it a great honor for the province. Addressing the delegates, the chief minister described Lahore as “not just a city, but a living museum of history and culture”.



“Lahore is a magnificent blend of the ancient and the modern — its streets exude the fragrance of civilization, its historic sites like the Shahi Qila and lush gardens are a proud part of our heritage,” she said, adding, “The people of Lahore embody warmth and love. Their unmatched hospitality makes this city a true cultural gem of Pakistan.” Maryam Nawaz emphasised.
