Episodes of the top BBC soap opera were being filmed in the Municipal Buildings in Greenock exactly 21 years ago today. Members of staff in the building had been asked to appear as extras during the filming of the murder trial of Heather Bellshaw, played by actress Jenni Keenan Green. Jackie McLaren, secretary to Robert Cleary, chief executive of Inverclyde Council, was set to appear in the public gallery in the district court, which was being used for the dramatic scenes.
She said: "It is really exciting. "I have been dealing with the producers and they asked me if I'd like to be an extra. "A few other people are going to be in it as well.
"They have all been really nice people. It is great for all of us that they are using the court here." Jenni Keenan Green, whose character Heather was on trial for the murder of Dr Marcus McKenzie, and Jon Morrison, who played Heather’s solicitor, Frank McKenna, took a few minutes out of their hectic filming schedule to speak to the Telegraph.
Jenni said: "I have never filmed in Greenock before. It is lovely. "It is a beautiful building too.
"It is a huge storyline for me and it has been running for months now. "It is flattering to be in the centre of it. "Obviously I can't tell you the outcome of the trial but Heather is going to twist and turn on the hook anyway.
" Jon Morrison was no stranger to filming in Greenock. He had a part in Ken Loach's Sweet Sixteen and also worked with well-known Greenock scriptwriter Peter McDougall. He said.
